The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.
What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?
Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.
This is my one of the favorite book in the series. Why? Because I love the way how the story flows despite of negative reviews of this book and even though I got annoyed at Clary, damn it was so good.
Before this book was released, the Infernal Devices Clockwork Angel and Prince were first to released but I chose to read first the Mortal Instrument series first.
From Sebastian and Jace was bound up to the battle when they want to separate them, it’s heart pounding. Although it’s less intense I still love it because Clary sacrificed a lot for the sake of Jace. Though she makes hasty decision and her mother is against to her decision, that’s the way she is.
The character development of Isabelle is less likely her, well, because she’s falling in love to Simon. On the other hand, Simon now were completely changed. From a Nerdy guy and Mundane to a Vampire and Brave one. Magnus and Alec are still not okay because Alec still thinking that Magnus is immortal and Alec will die and Magnus isn’t.
It’s crazy to like Sebastian because he is the villain here and evolves the story. That’s after when his dad , Valentine died. Just like his father, it runs in the blood. Like father, Like son.
