Synopsis:

Filled with magic, thrilling adventure, and sweet romance, Elementals is the first in a new series that fans of mythology will love!

When Nicole Cassidy moves from sunny Georgia to gloomy New England, the last thing she expects is to learn that her homeroom is a cover for a secret coven of witches. Even more surprisingly … she’s apparently a witch herself. Despite doubts about her newfound abilities, Nicole is welcomed into this ancient circle of witches and is bedazzled by their powers–and, to her dismay, by Blake–the school’s notorious bad-boy.

Girls who get close to Blake wind up hurt. His girlfriend Danielle will do anything to keep them away, even if she must resort to using dark magic. But the chemistry between Blake and Nicole is undeniable, and despite wanting to protect Nicole from Danielle’s wrath, he finds it impossible to keep his distance.

When the Olympian Comet shoots through the sky for the first time in three thousand years, Nicole, Blake, Danielle, and two others in their homeroom are gifted with mysterious powers over the elements. But the comet has another effect–it opens the portal to the prison world that has contained the Titans for centuries. After an ancient monster escapes and attacks Nicole and Blake, it’s up to them and the others to follow the clues from a cryptic prophecy so that they can save their town … and possibly the world.

Review:

(Source: Thanks to Net Galley and to the Publisher for this book. This will not affect my reviews.)

“My world had gone from normal to magical in only a few days. Everything I’d once believed to be true had been turned upside down, and even though it was crazy and possibly dangerous, I loved every second of it.”

This book is a page turner and the plot of story and the twist is really mesmerizing.  I really loved this book. A story about Witchcraft with a twist of Mythology and magic. I admit I haven’t read any Greek Mythology books like “Percy Jackson”. However, I annoyed at some characters.

Characters

Nicole is new in town. She transferred to a school wherein she will meet her destiny. She’s a serious person. But that’s the way she is. In her new school she met Darius, her professor who introduced her to the world of magic. At first, she’s confused because the magic’s are unbelievable right? It’s really shocking when you saw a magic in real life. And I can feel the emotions of Nicole. My reaction would be “Wow” and “Is this for real?”. And she met her new BFF Kate, technically they’re close because she’s the person who only talks to Nicole. Then, Nicole was had a “Love at first sight” to Blake, you know a hot guy in your classroom. BUT he has a girlfriend named Danielle, a girl who is afraid to lose her boyfriend so that she will do everything just to let the admirers of her boyfriend that she’s scary. And then, there’s Chris, the only guy who has a sense of humor in the group.

Honestly, I love the characters. But I got annoyed at Nicole and Blake. We all know that Nicole has a crush on Blake, and then they got close and then boom! Blake has feelings to Nicole too. It’s really crazy because I can’t take the way Blake cheating on her girlfriend. I felt bad for Danielle.  Because what if you’re in that situation, how would you feel? I can feel it the betrayal part. Though, Nicole knows her boundaries and limitations.

My OTP is Kate and Chris because they look cute together. *squeal*

Magic’s

Their magic is so cool and it really fits on their personality. ELEMENTALS consists of 5 elements: AIR, FIRE, EARTH, WATER, AND AETHER. Cool right? Because of the Olympian Comet they got their powers. My favorite scene here is when they will get their clues and it only fits on their respective powers. I love it. Every page and scene is really page turner.

The story is full of journey on what their powers will be and how to defeat the villains. It’s full of revelations. Madow’s writing of the story is great because she didn’t fail me to express my feelings.

At first, I gave this 3 stars but then as how I express my thoughts I realized that it should be 4 stars. Because I love the story BUT I hate the cheating part.

I can’t wait to read the sequel, to be released on April 2016. What will happen on them since they start on fighting the villains? What about Danielle and Blake and Nicole, can they survive the awkwardness?
